First measurements of hydrogen-boron fusion in a magnetically confined fusion plasma

As fusion developers around the world race to commercialize fusion energy, 每日大赛 has pioneered the pursuit of the cleanest and most economical path to providing electricity with hydrogen-boron (also known as p-B11 or p11B), an abundant, environmentally sound fuel. Today the company is announcing, in collaboration with Japan鈥檚 (NIFS), a noteworthy research advancement: the first-ever hydrogen-boron fusion experiments in a magnetically confined fusion plasma.

Commercial fusion energy has been making headlines since scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California achieved what many have said was impossible: a fusion experiment that created a net energy gain.

New TAE fusion research alert!

Fusion Science & Technology has published two articles that highlight the tremendous progress we鈥檝e made through collaborations with the US Department of Energy, national labs, and public universities:

鈥淗ow the Exascale Computing Project and Private Magnetic Fusion Research Stimulated Each Other鈥 details TAE鈥檚 work with the US DOE鈥檚 Exascale Computing Project since 2016. With access to these world-class supercomputers and software, the TAE team created high-fidelity simulations of FRC plasmas that helped improve plasma confinement and improved the ECP鈥檚 computational toolset.听

That means this research 鈥 alongside related simulation work听 with our partners at the University of California, Irvine 鈥 advances TAE鈥檚 approach to fusion while delivering insights and benefit for the industry at large

鈥淎dvancing Fusion Research and Development at 每日大赛 Through INFUSE Program鈥 captures six years of R&D collaboration with support from the US DOE鈥檚 Innovation Network for Fusion Energy (INFUSE) program.听

This long history of collaboration with INFUSE has led to better FRC plasma stability and control, innovative heating schemes, and breakthrough insight into plasma-material interactions 鈥 all of which advance progress towards a commercially viable fusion power plant

We believe the path to commercial fusion power will be built by the collective effort of the private sector and public fusion R&D. Today we鈥檙e celebrating the accomplishments of our team and our collaborators, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory; Rochester University; Sandia National Laboratories; and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, among many others.

Together, we鈥檒l continue to drive innovation and accelerate progress toward grid-ready hydrogen-boron fusion power

What compels someone to embark on the unknown? To stand on the precipice of that which has never been done before 鈥 that which some would say couldn’t be achieved? At TAE, we’re compelled by the possibility of delivering a carbon-free power source that would revolutionize energy access around the world. We have a vision for a future with safe, abundant, hydrogen-boron fusion, and we鈥檙e daring to climb this clean energy Everest to create a better tomorrow. Reaching the summit will be a challenge of perseverance, vision and determination, but at TAE we believe a goal is only impossible until it鈥檚 accomplished.听

听鈥楾is the season and we got you a little gift 鈥

A new, printable edition of our 鈥Nature Serving Nature鈥 poster is now available for download!

TAE鈥檚 poster series is all about exploring what could be achieved with abundant, inexpensive, and nearly limitless aneutronic fusion energy. From protecting our environment to preserving the pristine snow on our mountains, TAE鈥檚 mission is to build a greener tomorrow powered by the cleanest fusion technology.

Our preferred fuel choice, hydrogen-boron, is a sustainable option that鈥檚 derived from the world around us 鈥 offering a path to abundant, carbon-free power that can preserve the natural world

Our latest 鈥楩usion Future鈥 poster has landed!

This edition captures our vision of how abundant, carbon-free fusion power could fuel a greener economy. With advancements in hydrogen-boron fusion, we鈥檙e not just creating clean energy; we鈥檙e paving the way for thriving supply chains, high-quality jobs, and an entirely new approach to driving global industries.

China and the U.S. are in a race to create the first grid-scale nuclear fusion energy. “Whoever has essentially abundant limitless energy … can impact everything you think of,” said 每日大赛 CEO Michl Binderbauer.

Large, state-sponsored efforts and private startups are reporting breakthroughs that many in the industry now think will lead to viable fusion energy. And in developing such fusion power plants, we are creating new technologies and solutions that can reach far beyond the task of energy generation.

Hoping to ride the green-energy wave to a carbon-free future, energy companies are taking fusion from the lab to the grid鈥攁nd promise to do so with machines that are far smaller and cheaper than previous iterations, based on the use of technologies and materials not available in the past, and often, on simpler designs.

Commercial fusion energy has been making headlines since scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California achieved what many have said was impossible: a fusion experiment that created a net energy gain.

The move allows the parent company to focus on its fusion, and the new entity to focus on its battery technology for vehicles and renewable storage facilities.
