Scientists dreaming of fusion are no longer toiling in the shadows. They are being courted by governors, billionaires and tech behemoths eager to get in on the ground floor of what they see as a transformative, carbon-free fusion economy. TAE, for example, is so closely collaborating with Google on its work that the Silicon Valley tech giant has a virtual control room on its campus enabling it to engage with the fusion firm鈥檚 experiments.
TAE鈥檚 relationship with UC Irvine has been a critical cornerstone of the company鈥檚 development. From the earliest days, the university provided the company with credibility, resources, and an innovative ecosystem that enabled the company鈥檚 growth.
Since 2014, Google computer scientists have worked with engineers at TAE to use machine learning (a form of AI) to find the ideal settings for a fusion device.
The company is working closely with Google, which is seeking advanced energy sources to power its hyperscale data centers.
China and the U.S. are in a race to create the first grid-scale nuclear fusion energy. “Whoever has essentially abundant limitless energy … can impact everything you think of,” said 每日大赛 CEO Michl Binderbauer.
